The next couple of pages have been put together so we can cover some of the ground rules.  We can cover some, but by no means, can we cover all of the items that may come up during a poker game. It’s in the best interest to the game to brief everyone before the start of the tournament. There will be three players set-up to be game officials that will cover and Rule on any issues that may arise through the night (1 per table assigned randomly). These are the common rules of poker control the game

So please read the following pages and ask questions if something is not clear to you.

The only Poker hands that may be called by the dealer are as follows.   Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, Five Card Draw, Omaha Hi-Low 8 or better,

Anaconda; 3-2-1 all left, Hi-low.  There will be no wild-card deviations (a separate joker is allowed) or other games allowed.

1.                  All hands will be controlled by the dealer in his turn and will ensure the following.

a.      All players will Check, Call, Raise or Fold in turn to the dealer left.

b.      All Calls & Raise must be posted

                                                               i.      The bet/raise is to be placed between you and the pot.

c.      All chips will be raked into the pot by the dealer

d.      All raises will be announced

                                                               i.      A bet that is larger than the amount called, that is not announced as a raise. Is returned to the player and treated as a call.

2.                  Dealer may only use one wild card.

a.      This wild card can only be the Joker common to the deck

b.      The Joker is completely wild. It may be used.

                                                               i.       As an Ace High or Low.

                                                             ii.      In a Flush

                                                            iii.      In a Straight.

iv.      Anything else a player can muster.

3.                  Multiple rebuys allowed of $20.00 per round given that.

a.      Taken before the last 15 min. of the round.

b.      Each rebuy is $20.00 stack.

c.      All rebuys will contribute to the total purse.

4.                  Table stakes are in effect. You can only use the chips in front of you at the start of the hand. You can’t get chips from another player nor can you Draw light during the hand. The dealer will set up a side pot.

a.      Example Say in the fifth card of a seven-card stud game. A player has only $4 in front of him and the betting goes to $6. The Dealer will place players $4 into the main pot and the $2 not called will be placed into a side pot. All calling bets will be placed $4 to the pot & $2 to the side pot.  All new bets & raises will be place into the side pot.

b.      At the showdown. If the player that’s  All In” has the best hand he is awarded the starting pot and has no interest to the side pot. The side pot is awarded to the next best hand.  If  All In” player is beaten. The starting pot as well as the side pot goes to the highest hand at the table.

5.                  All cards speak for them selves. Pots are awarded to the best possible hand at the table during the showdown. Verified by the dealer and the table before cards are collected or pots raked. Beware, however: if you are the one having that hand, it is your responsibility to recognize it and call it out. Once the cards have been collected & person claiming to win has begun raking the pot, the game is over.

                                                               i.      READ 6.a, 6.b, and 6.c.

6.                  Cards are the player’s responsibility.

a.      Only hands containing five cards have a claim to the pot.

b.      A fouled hand has no claim to the pot.

                                                               i.      Don’t let your hand be fouled by getting mix with the discards during play or at the showdown before the hand is verified.

ii.      Ensure that you don’t foul your hand by one to many or one short. Say in a Five-card draw.

c.      All players will ensure they have proper amount of cards when being dealt.

7.                  Misdeals

a.      During the deal, if a player’s card is dealt face up, that was to be dealt face down.  The player may request from the dealer a new card dealt face down, the upturned card is placed into the discards. Or he may keep the card and request the next card dealt face down. It’s the player’s call.

b.      When hold cards are being dealt. If a misdeal occurs all cards are collected by the dealer & re-dealt.

Local Poker Rules General Rules, Clarifications of Game Rules, and Local Rules and Customs:

  1. Five-card ranking, best to worst: Five of a kind; Straight flush; Four of a kind; Full house; Flush; Straight; Three of a kind; Two pair; Pair; High card.
  2. There is no ranking of suits. Therefore, a (A-K-Q-J-10) straight ties another (A-K-Q-J-10) straight, regardless of suit.
  3. In high-low games, players do not have to use the same five cards to win the high hand and the low hand. As in Seven card stud Hi-low.
  4. In low hand poker, The (A-2-3-4-6) is the best possible hand, if the hand is not a flush.
  5. All split pot games have a declaration, except Anaconda.
  6. All declaration games (Omaha Hi-low) have a bet after the declaration. A player who shows his cards after a declaration but before the last bet following has Killed their hand and must fold. This rule is printed in bold red type because it will make you very angry if you forget it. Problem is, without this rule you will make other players even angrier if you forget about the bet after the declaration.

  1. Declaration: Is established during the previous betting round. By the last player to raise or the player that opened the bet. That player will verbally state their intention to go Hi, Low or Both. Each player will verbally state their intentions for Hi, Low or Both around the table to the left. The Last betting round will start with that opening player or the “lock player” the only one going Hi, Low and or Both. All players’ that go Both Ways must beat Hi & Low. If you lose one or both you get Nothing.  If you tie one or both you get Nothing. You Must Beat Both Hi & Low.

  1. It's traditional for a dealer to offer a cut of the deck to the player to his right. The player may cut, tap (signifying no cut), or pass the cut to the player to his right.

  1. Answering your cell phone or pager in the middle of a hand is considered the equivalent of folding your hand. There are no exceptions to this rule.  Allowances are made for you to sit out the following hand and return the call.

  1. Players will refrain from using Stall-tactics.  All players may excuse them selves from the table for 10min per round total.  This they may use to cover a needed break, refresh a drink, answer a phone call, pager or just grab some fresh air.  But all players involved in the tournament will be requested to return to the table and Keep the game live.

  1. It is assumed you know all the rules of a game when it's played. These rules, the common rules of poker control the game. If you don't know a game, speak up, Ask the dealer. If someone -- especially another player -- explains the game to you, caveat emptor. Don't blame that person if he explained the game incorrectly or incompletely always direct your question to the dealer.
